Predictive Maintenance and Condition Monitoring
Date/Time: 18 Apr 2012
15:00-15:30

Seminar Details

It is not widely appreciated how intimately the mechanical and electrical behavior of equipment are linked.  In fact, electrical disturbances (for example, from poorly-smoothed inverter drives) has an impact on the mechanical performance of equipment that can be measured by vibration monitoring.  Conversely, mechanical problems, such as bearing deterioration, can be measured by their effect on current drawn by the electric motor driving the equipment.  This session will describe how this inter-connection works in practice and how it can be used to make an efficient and highly cost-effective combined condition monitoring programme.
